Outsourcing process: effectively outsourcing procurement activities
Outsourcing procurement activities can be a strategic decision for companies to reduce costs and free up resources. But how does the outsourcing process work and what are the steps required to successfully outsource procurement activities?
1. Recording the customer’s purchasing processes and structures
At the beginning of the outsourcing process, we analyze the customer’s purchasing processes and structures in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the customer’s procurement activities and requirements.
2. Insight into the subject area/area of responsibility that is to be temporarily outsourced
In the next step, we work with the client to determine which subject area or area of responsibility should be temporarily outsourced. In doing so, we take into account the specific requirements of the client and the needs of the market.
3. Development of a schedule
Based on the client’s analyses and requirements, we draw up a detailed schedule for the outsourcing of procurement activities. In doing so, we take into account the necessary resources, schedules and budgets to ensure that the client’s objectives are achieved.
4. Temporary supervision of the area of responsibility
During the project, we temporarily take over the management of the outsourced task area and ensure the availability of materials. We carry out tenders and present the results to the customer – including possible improvement potential in the processes and strategic development guidelines for the subject area/product group.
5. Takeover of the know-how by the customer
At the end of the project, we hand over the know-how to the customer and provide all the necessary information for the transfer back to the internal purchasing department. To ensure the transfer of know-how, we also offer training to ensure that the customer’s employees can effectively adopt the outsourced processes and integrate them into their purchasing department.
Isn’t it time to change course and set sail for more effective procurement processes?
